Bears vs Lions Party

A great day; the Bears won, Detroit lost.

It was a great day to be a Bears fan and Illinois Club member.  By all indications a wonderful time was had by all.  A raucous group of 38 fans attended the game at Wild Wings in Farragut to watch the Bears beat the Lions 37-13.  Twelve of our members won prizes in the raffle and four others won cash prizes in the football pool.

Our thanks go to the Wild Wings staff for providing a great venue for watching the game.  In particular, thanks go to Manager Dave and our exclusive server Sean.  They were able to provide us with excellent service and a comfortable place to enjoy the game.

I would be remiss if I didn’t give a special thank you to Dennis and Lesia Kotlinski for planning and hosting the event.  GREAT JOB!

Next up is the January social, more details to follow.

MESSAGE FROM EL PRESIDENTE

Greetings,

Just a quick reminder.

The 2012 membership dues are due.  We will also be collecting dues at the picnic so bring your membership application and your check book.  Remember that the dues are just $10.00 per family and for this year you will be paid up till January 2013.

Call or email my wife Marilyn about both items or see the attached fliers for further info.

Marilyn can be reached at:   abcrn@charter.net, or call her at 657-9801

For those of you who have already responded, thanks and we hope to see you soon,

Fred Kanwischer

ILLINOIS CLUB IS ACTIVE AGAIN!

A planning meeting was held July 19, 2011 with approximately 35 people in attendance.

The following items were discussed and some decisions were made:

1.    1. There was sufficient interest in reviving the club and bring it back to active status.

2.    2. Quarterly informal meetings will be held at the Tanasi Restaurant to discuss future activities and to socialize with fellow Illinois Club members.  Dates of these meetings/socials will follow in future correspondence.

3.    3. Dues will remain at $5.00 per person or $10.00 per family.  They are to be paid now but will not be due again until January 2013.  See the “membership application form” for more information.

4.    4. The following positions were filled:

a.      President – Fred Kanwischer

b.      Vice-President open

c.       Treasurer – Maybeth Graening

d.      Webmaster – Bob Luedeka

e.      Membership – Marilyn Kanwischer

f.        Board of Directors

                                                              i.      Dennis Kotlinski

                                                          iii.      Chuck James

5.    5. We are still in need of a Vice-President.  This person will assist the President on an as needed basis and will assume the role of President when the current President’s term expires.

6.    6. We know many of you have expressed interest in assisting the club in a variety of ways. If you have a desire to serve in any capacity please contact me directly.

7.    7. The first social activity for the club is already planned.  We have scheduled our annual picnic for September 17th.  (see the attached flyer)

We are very excited to again have an active organization.  Thanks to all of you who volunteered your services.  We will see you at the picnic if not sooner.
